Andrew D'ath-weston – Sports Chiropractor & Exercise physiologist
I’m Andrew D’Ath-Weston, a member at KC The Sports Chiropractor as an Exercise Physiologist and Sports Chiropractor.
I am passionate about human movement, sports performance and rehabilitation. I am driven to understand how to make the body move better, faster and stronger. I have competed in many sports throughout my life always striving to be the best I could be, however, I was always battling injuries, aches and pains and setbacks. I constantly wanted to know how to treat my injuries and prevent further issues. The turning point for me was almost instantly when I started weight training in a gym my plaguing lower back pain that I had been experiencing for years disappeared. This led me into wanting to do something in the field of health and fitness and to help others who were in the same situation as me.
I graduated from the University of Wollongong in 2007 with an Exercise Science degree.
I have worked for the past 8 years as an Exercise Physiologist specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, return to work and primary health care. Although I enjoyed exercise rehabilitation, I found myself constantly seeking more information and knowledge and wanted to further educate myself to assist my clients more.
This brought me to complete my Masters in Chiropractic at Macquarie University. I believe that by combining my exercise rehabilitation experience with my chiropractic knowledge will add value to my patient’s by helping them achieve their best possible results.
I have huge passion for education for both clients and fellow colleagues. Through this I have been a facilitator in bringing in the leading educators to teach healthcare related courses. I have further shared my passion for education with Luke in teaching our movement based courses to fellow Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Exercise Physiologits, Massage therapists and Personal Trainers.
During the last 8 years I have further educated myself and attended courses in
* Functional Movement System (FMS)
* Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) Level 1 & 2.
* Exercise and spinal rehabilitation
* Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS) Sports I, A, B, C, Advanced
* Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT)
